About THOU and The History of Us

THOU, short for The History of Us, was created to preserve the stories, lessons, and legacies too often left out of the classroom. It began as a mission to teach African American history through storytelling, told by fathers, shared by families, and remembered by generations. Every Thursday night, fathers across the country sit down with their children to learn together. THOU turns that simple act into something powerful: a synchronized movement of unity, truth, and legacy.

Each story told through THOU honors the 21,082 pages of history we lose every day when our elders pass away without their stories being recorded. By capturing their words, wisdom, and lived experiences, THOU ensures that our history does not fade; it lives, grows, and connects us all.

The book THOU: The History of Us – Volume 1 is the first step in that mission. It is more than a collection of stories; it is a journey through time, told through truth and emotion. Each chapter highlights a powerful moment or figure in African American history, followed by a personal reflection that connects the past to our lives today. The book is designed for families to read together, especially fathers and children, as a way to strengthen family bonds through shared learning and conversation.

THOU reminds readers that Black history is not separate from American history. It is the foundation of it. The stories within this book honor the courage, innovation, and resilience of those who came before us, while inspiring readers to carry their lessons forward.

At its heart, THOU is more than a brand or a book. It is a movement. A call for families to reclaim the stories that built this nation. A reminder that knowledge is power, and teaching our own history is how we build a stronger, more unified future.
